“The bodies were sent for post mortem examination. We have opened an investigation, ”Bhaskar Mukherjee, superintendent of the Sunderbans police district, told media.

The incident came hours after the couple’s daughter, who was reported missing until Sunday evening, was accused of embezzling funds to the tune of ??3 lakh by members of a women’s support group, relatives of the family, told police.

The couple’s daughter, who is a member of the group, was allegedly accused by several women in the Sultannagar area of ​​stealing the money they had collected and then giving her a fund.

“Many of these women stormed the family home in Kulpi on Saturday evening. It is alleged that they assaulted the couple’s daughter who pleaded innocence. The family lodged a complaint with the Kulpi Police Station later that night. Five of these women are being questioned, ”a district police officer said on condition of anonymity.
