Blood and platelet supply critical in Collier County
COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. Blood and platelet supplies are extremely low in Collier County.
A dramatic increase in use by cancer and surgical patients, coupled with a marked decrease in the number of donors, has resulted in a shortage, according to the Community Blood Center, an affiliate of the NCH Healthcare System.
Donors are welcome to donate blood at the Community Blood Center – Donor Center, located at 11190 Health Park Blvd. in Naples at the NCH North Naples Hospital, near the entrance to Brookdale.
The opening hours of the donor center are Monday, Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The donor center is closed on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday.
No appointment is necessary to donate blood. Platelet donors are required to make an appointment.
