Winners of the 2022 TVB Awards of Excellence and TVB NEXT Awards exemplify dedication, integrity and forward-thinking in media and advertising, highlighting an innovative future for localism
NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#CBS–The winners of the 2022 TVB Excellence Awards and TVB NEXT Awards were announced earlier today during the TVB Live Executive Summitpart of this year’s hybrid Forward Conference. Every year, TVBthe nonprofit trade association representing the multibillion-dollar local television industry in the United States honors the individuals and organizations that shape the future of local media.

TVB Excellence Award for Media Agency of the Year
In 2022, brands and their media partners continued to navigate a period of change and disruption. Organizations had to be adaptable, flexible, transparent and innovative. This year’s recipient of the Excellence Award for Media Agency of the Year encompasses it all and was accepted by Jennifer Hungerbuhler, executive vice president, head of local video and audio investment, dentsu Media US.
Excellence describes Jennifer’s contributions to the industry. A veteran of over 25 years in advertising and media, Jennifer has worked across multiple categories including quick service restaurants, fine and casual dining, travel and entertainment, retail, automotive, property consumer goods, spirits/beer, pharmaceuticals, gaming and tuning. She currently oversees the investment strategy for local video and audio channels across all screens and devices for all Densu Media clients. Jennifer has been a champion of localism and advertising innovation, as well as an inspirational leader and media partner.
TVB Excellence Award for Career Achievement
This year, TVB selected Emily Barr, former President and CEO of Graham Media Group, with the Career Achievement Award.
Emily led Graham Media Group as President and CEO for a decade. Previously, she was president and general manager of ABC 7 in Chicago and spent time at WMAR in Baltimore. Emily has been a strong advocate for the industry throughout her career and has generously shared her expertise and thought leadership with the next generation of media leaders, including TVB’s NEXT Women program. She represents integrity and progress, and has truly been an asset to our industry. Emily has been an exceptional member of the TVB Board of Directors and a valuable advisor and role model to local broadcasters.
TVB Next Award
Since its creation in 2016, TVB’s NEXT Awards Programwith the support of WideOrbitgives the next generation of media leaders access to today’s thought leaders, insight into industry innovation and a head start on career advancement at the annual conference TVB Forward.
The winners of the 2022 TVB NEXT Award for Buying and Selling Media were presented by Eric Mathewson, Founder and CEO, WideOrbit, who was pleased to announce both Jennifer Christina, Partner, Embedded Investment, UM Worldwide and Megan Quirk, Account Executive, CBS News and Stations.
Asked about her views on the role of the media buyer when impressions and automated TV are fully adopted, Jennifer said, “Buyers will have more flexibility with cross-platform impression purchasing and attribution to the within individual markets to achieve optimal video mixes based on each market’s audience habits.”
“Viewers go to TV news and local websites when they need answers,” Megan said when asked about the power of localism. “Local advertising has the ability to bring national and local brands to consumers’ doorsteps, which benefits both the advertiser and the consumer.”
Other awards given to TVB Forward include the Ad Council Catalyst Award, presented by Lisa Sherman, President and CEO of Ad Council at Hearst Television.
