Last chance to nominate for the West Wales Health and Care Awards

VOLUNTEERS who go above and beyond the call of duty are always worth their weight in gold, no one more than Gill Jones.

Giving her time to help charities and health and care organizations is second nature to Gill, who has been hailed as an “incredible, kind and caring” person.

Her tremendous efforts to help others prompted a fan to nominate her for the Volunteer of the Year award at the West Wales Health & Care Awards 2022, sponsored by Werndale Hospital.

Fifteen awards will be presented at the ceremony, which is due to take place at the Pembrokeshire County Showground on Thursday 15 September.

“Gill volunteers for so many charities and organizations,” the person who named her wrote. “She goes beyond her role as a volunteer.

“She is very passionate about volunteering and helping others and treats everyone in her care with dignity and humanity and understands their individual needs.

“She is compassionate and sensitive and provides care in a way that respects all people equally.

“Gill is also putting in many extra volunteer hours to help the administration of the Covid-19 program to get as many people vaccinated in a short period of time.

“She’s an amazing, kind and caring person who helps so many others in what she does.”

They added: ‘It could be helping get people to their appointments, volunteering at the Paul Sartori shop to raise money for palliative end-of-life care, reading or chatting with a client, or help fill out forms.

“She demonstrates exceptional levels of commitment to patient care and always puts the client at the heart of her volunteerism.

“She also helps deliver food parcels and does more than we even know.”

Gill makes a difference to people in the community by providing valuable, positive and efficient service.

It can be a lifeline for many people and plays a key role in helping them maintain independence, manage long-term conditions, and treat acute illnesses.
