Northampton Housing Providers’ Community Repaint Shop is donating paint to brighten up the charity’s new premises.
Local housing provider, Northampton Partnership Homes (NPH) Paint Shop recently donated cans of paint to local charity, the lowdown, to brighten up their new premises in St Giles Street.
the lowdown provides free and confidential support services to young people in Northamptonshire, including counselling, mental health support, wellness centers and LGBTQ+ support. The charity has recently had to add to its existing offices due to demand for its services, to ensure it can continue to support local young people.
The donation of 30 liters of paint came from NPH affiliate Happy to Help CIC, which runs the Kings Heath-based paint shop. The paint has been put to good use, helping to brighten up the charity’s new space, creating a friendly and welcoming environment for the lesser to offer their services.
Ellie White, Fundraising and Marketing Manager at the lowdown, said: “We are delighted to receive paint from Happy to Help CIC through the paint shop for our additional new premises on St Giles Street. Due to increased demand for our services, we have had to expand our office space and provide rooms to accommodate our RE:Start service which provides hands-on support to young people aged 16-25 transitioning from CAMHS to adult mental health. Donating paint helps us provide a clean, welcoming and professional space for both service users and our team. »
The Paint Shop, part of the Community Repaint program, is the only such store in the county. It is run by volunteers who collect donations of paint from local businesses, traders and members of the public, which are sold back to the community at low cost. This keeps prices affordable for customers, but also means the team are able to support local charities who work hard to support the people of Northampton.
Cam Whyld, Head of Engagement at NPH, said: “We are really delighted to be able to support the lowdowns, who are doing an incredible job of supporting young people in Northampton. The idea for the paint shop was born out of conversations we had with our residents, who wanted to help the local community decorate and brighten up their spaces at a low cost. It was a real success, thanks to the hard work of our volunteers and the generosity of those who donated their leftover paint to the shop. Thanks to them, we can support local populations and community organizations to decorate their spaces at low cost.
The Paint Shop is located in Park Square, Kings Heath NN5 7LQ, and is open to everyone. Opening hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
If you have leftover reusable paint that you would like to donate to the shop, the team would love to hear from you. They will help you become a valued donor to the program. Contact the team at [email protected] or call 01604 837836.
