Popular Offaly referee in cyclical fundraiser for mental health charity

Popular local referee Mickey Flanagan has raised €1,095 for Accessible Counseling Tullamore (ACT). Mickey cycled from Westport to Achill and back on June 26 – a distance of around 120km.

He originally set a goal of €200 to raise for the charity, but was blown away by the support and generosity of people and ended up raising more than five times that amount.

Mickey would like to thank everyone who donated and sent him their best wishes. “I am delighted with the amount of money that has been raised for this excellent local charity. There is not a home that has not been touched by mental health issues and I am very happy to have been able to give something back to the community. I like helping people and I know that the money I have raised will go directly to supporting people in difficulty”.

ACT President James O’Connor praised Mickey for volunteering his time to raise funds for ACT and thanked Mickey and everyone who donated. “Fundraisers like this are a real lifeline for ACT and we are so grateful to Mickey for his support and are also so grateful to everyone who has donated.”

Accessible Counseling Tullamore (ACT) provides accessible, affordable and timely counseling and psychotherapy to people aged 16+ across the Midlands.
